Hair Styles in Beverly Hills: The History of The Pompadour.

Oh The Pompadour.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story behind this hair style, let me enlighten you with its bizarre background.

Pompadour refers to the mistress of King Louis XV, Madame de Pompadour, who wore her hair swept upwards from the face and worm over top of the forehead. Sometimes the sides were even unswept around each side and back as well.

At some point in history it lost its popularity, but made a brief comeback in the late 40s early 50s. You can go and search photos of Elvis in the mid 50s sporting The Pompadour.

My favorite historical story of The Pompadour would be that of the Japanese Popular Culture, The Pompadour is a stereotypical hairstyle often worn by gang members and thugs and various radical groups.

This mostly European hair style can be seen on some of the classiest guys in most industries like David Beckham, John Travolta, Sean Connery, Zac Efron and even the Beibs.

Are you bold and daring enough to rock The Pompadour?!
